Planet hunters led by astronomers discovered a newly found planet. This planet is an Earth-sized planet that has three times the mass of Earth. There is a possible chance that this planet has liquid water that could exist there. This planet orbits a nearby star at a distance that places it in the middle of the star's habitable zone. The Earth-sized planet has an orbitual period of 37 days. The mass shows astronomers that this is a rocky planet with a surface and has enough gravity to hold on to the atmosphere.

Are non carbon based life forms possible? Why or why not? Give at least two reasons to support your answer
Non carbon based life forms are not possible because complex molecules are made up of carbon which is bonded with other elements including oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. Carbon is made up of four valence electrons it is able to bond with these elements which all living things need to survive. Everything living things eat has carbon in it. Without carbon, living things will not be able to survive.

Several years ago  NASA rocket failed because scientists were not using the same system of measurement for all the parts. Should the US switch to the metric system? Why or why not? Give at least two reasons to support your answer
The US should switch to the metric system because the metric system is able to help scientists measure rockets.  Using the metric system is faster than measuring in inches or feet. Scientists can check about how many meters a rocket goes in 1 second. The US should only use the metric system to measure every rocket.

My goals for this year are getting straight A's on every semester, get into the basketball team, and getting a girlfriend. I want to make my parents proud by getting 4.0 this whole year. I also want to get A's on every quiz and test in biology. Not only do I want to make my parents proud but I want to be proud of myself by making into the freshmen basketball team for Alhambra High School.
